Do you actually need one?

Nine signs it is time, and one that isn’t

Plenty of roofs we inspect have years left. If yours is one of them we will tell you, and you can call us back in three years.

Your roof is past 20–25 years old
Shingles are cracked, curling or buckling
Bare patches where the granules have washed off
You can find shingle grit in the gutters
Daylight or water stains showing in the attic
Flashing around chimneys or vents is rusted or lifting
Dark algae streaking that keeps coming back
The manufacturer warranty has already expired
Half the street has already re-roofed

The one that isn’t: a single leak. One leak is usually a repair, not a replacement — and a roofer who jumps straight to a full tear-off without inspecting is guessing or selling.

What a Retex replacement includes

The parts you never see are the parts that matter

Anyone can nail shingles down. What separates a roof that lasts 25 years from one that leaks in seven is everything underneath.

Complete tear-off

Down to the deck, ridge to eaves. We inspect the wood underneath and show you photos of anything rotten before we cover it up.

Ice & water shield

In every valley and around every penetration — the places Florida rain actually gets in.

Synthetic underlayment

Across the entire field, not just the edges. Plus a drip edge on every single edge of the roof.

Flashing and pipe collars

New, not reused. Old flashing is the single most common source of a leak on an otherwise good roof.

Premium shingles

GAF Timberline, CertainTeed Landmark or TAMKO Heritage, installed to the manufacturer’s written spec so the material warranty actually holds.

A cleanup you can walk barefoot on

Debris hauled off and a magnetic nail rake run over your lawn two to three times before we leave.

Straight talk about cost

What a new roof costs, honestly

We will not put a fake number on a website. What we will do is tell you exactly how the price is built so you can compare quotes properly.

  • Square footage and pitch — a steeper roof takes longer and costs more to work safely
  • How many layers come off — two old layers is twice the tear-off and twice the disposal
  • Decking repairs — we quote these separately and only after you have seen the photos
  • Material choice — architectural shingle, luxury shingle, or standing seam metal
  • Nothing else. No mystery line items, no surprise change orders after the crew is on site
Up to $50,000 Financing available on approved credit, so a full replacement does not have to wait for the insurance cheque. See financing options

Before you call anyone

Roof replacement questions we get every week

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most residential replacements are finished in a small number of days, depending on the size and pitch of the roof and how much decking needs repair. We will give you the schedule in writing before we start, and you will know which stage we are on each day.

Do I have to leave the house?

No. It is loud, and we would not recommend a newborn nap schedule around it, but you can stay. We tarp the landscaping, cover the A/C units and protect the driveway before a single shingle moves.

What happens if you find rotten decking?

We photograph it, show you, and quote the repair separately before we proceed. You will never find decking work on an invoice you did not approve first.

Is the warranty really transferable?

Yes. The lifetime workmanship warranty transfers once to a new owner, and the transfer has to be registered with us in writing within 60 days of closing. The full terms are published here — read them before you sign anything, with us or anyone else.

Will you deal with my insurance company?

We document everything with photographs and provide the paperwork your adjuster will ask for. We are roofers, not public adjusters, so we will not negotiate the claim for you — but we have been through the process enough times to make it far less painful.

Do you use subcontractors?

Retex is family-owned and local. When something goes wrong after we drive away, you call the same people who did the work.
